ESOL (English for speakers of other languages) classes with Citizenship for Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK, Naturalization, British Nationality or British Passport

 Why ESOL (Skill for Life) is important?

In 2005 the Government made it compulsory that any one applying for Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK or for British Nationality must pass the Life in the UK Test. People who have poor level of English or who are unable to read and understand English at Level 3 do not have to pass this test. Instead they can take ESOL classes with the Citizenship Context.

Topics covered

The course includes full training based on the (EDI) exams and a short assessment of 9-11 minutes carried by the external independent EDI examiner. Please note that, in this course you do not have to read or write not even in your test. The training and test is only on listening and speaking, EDI is registered and recognized by the Home Office.

• The exam is carried out on Friday in our Centre after the course. We get results from the EDI on the following week.
  
• And if you pass the test, we will get your certificate from EDI in next 2 to 3 weeks which you can collect from our centre.
  
• The certificate you will get is for ESOL (Skills for Life) at Entry Level in speaking and listening.
  
• We will also give you a confirmation letter for the Home Office confirming that, you have done the ESOL Entry Level course with the Citizenship Context.
  
• With these two documents you are ready to apply for your Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK, Naturalization or British Nationality. You can use the same certificate for both for your Indefinite Stay application and after that for your British Passport application.
